SAFREST Resources has partnered with a Jewish summer camp in Waupaca, WI, an 80-acre, lakefront facility that gives campers the opportunity to explore, take on new challenges, and make friendships that last a lifetime.
We are seeking a full-time Nurse in residence for a 10-week opportunity, June 1 - August 9, 2024.
The Nurse is the primary health care provider for the camp. The Nurse supervises health and cleanliness standards, works with the Director and staff, and helps provide a comprehensive health care program that meets the needs of the campers and staff. The Nurse is committed to upholding the mission and vision of the camp.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that each staff member and camper has on file a health history, physician’s exam, and immunizations on file; review to address specific needs and restrictions
• Plan and implement a system for health screening for arriving campers and staff
• Maintain an inventory of supplies and place orders, when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies
• Follow appropriate medical protocols, including record keeping in the online medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved standing orders
• Coordinate 24-hour coverage of the health center
• Distribute camper and staff medication at specific times (breakfast, lunch, dinner, nighttime)
• Implement sick-call hours for 30 minutes after each meal
• Make needed appointments with medical and dental personnel in the community
• Check and issue first aid kits for trips out of camp and for cabins
• Participate and lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health and safety, CPR, first aid and use of universal precautions for infection control
• Prepare accident/incident reports as needed
• Monitor the health of all campers and staff including maintenance and kitchen
• Meet with the Director daily to update on all health matters and concerns
• Prepare a summary and evaluation of the camp season including inventories, camper reports on health problems and make recommendations for the following season

Qualifications:

• RN or LPN licensure
• Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp setting
• Ability to give and take constructive criticism
• A self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
• Leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, manage, and counsel staff to maximize their skills
• A team player; recognizes the importance of group success
• Comfortable managing and working alongside others who have different work styles
• Comfortable working with children who have different learning styles

• Salary: $1,300/week
• Travel stipend: Up to $350
• Free camp enrollment for your kids (grades 2-9)
